Happy Mother's Day!

I wanted to greet my mom and all the other mothers (and mothers-to-be) out there in the world a Happy and Blessed Mother's Day!

A follow up post will come shortly. But I wanted to send my wishes now, before I leave for the day to spend time with my mom, my kids and my sister!

For now, enjoy some quotes for this special day!

A mother is a person who seeing there are only four pieces of pie for five people, promptly announces she never did care for pie. ~Tenneva Jordan

If you have a mom, there is nowhere you are likely to go where a prayer has not already been.  ~Robert Brault

When you are a mother, you are never really alone in your thoughts. A mother always has to think twice, once for herself and once for her child. ~Sophia Loren, Women and Beauty

God could not be everywhere and therefore he made mothers.  ~Jewish Proverb

I remember my mother's prayers and they have always followed me. They have clung to me all my life. ~Abraham Lincoln

It kills you to see them grow up. But I guess it would kill you quicker if they didn't. ~Barbara Kingsolver, Animal Dreams

A mother is the truest friend we have, when trials heavy and sudden, fall upon us; when adversity takes the place of prosperity; when friends who rejoice with us in our sunshine desert us; when trouble thickens around us, still will she cling to us, and endeavor by her kind precepts and counsels to dissipate the clouds of darkness, and cause peace to return to our hearts.  ~Washington Irving

Happy Mother's Day!!!

conversations

It is very rare that I get political or spiritual on certain subjects.  I tend to leave the politics by the wayside and the spiritual for the quiet in my own heart, as there is a time and place for everything.

But in light of recent events, I feel that I need to share how I feel about the whole worldly situation on the death of one man.  Yes, the world may seem like a safer place right now, but I don't take any pleasure in anyone's death, no matter who you are - innocent or evil, friend or enemy.

"I mourn the loss of thousands of precious lives, but I will not rejoice in the death of one, not even an enemy. Returning hate for hate multiplies hate, adding deeper darkness to a night already devoid of stars. Darkness cannot drive out darkness: only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate: only love can do that"
-Martin Luther King, Jr.

“You have heard that it was said, ‘Eye for eye, and tooth for tooth.’ But I tell you, Do not resist an evil person. If someone strikes you on the right cheek, turn to him the other also. And if someone wants to sue you and take your tunic, let him have your cloak as well. If someone forces you to go one mile, go with him two miles. Give to the one who asks you, and do not turn away from the one who wants to borrow from you. “You have heard that it was said, ‘Love your neighbor and hate your enemy.’ But I tell you: Love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you, that you may be sons of your Father in heaven. He causes his sun to rise on the evil and the good, and sends rain on the righteous and the unrighteous.
-Matthew 5: 38-45
