so they say...

...that you can never go back home again.  Well, in my case, that certainly isn't true.

This post is dedicated to my best friend from afar, L.A. :)

I first met L.A. in Winnipeg in elementary school.  We were best friends until the end of grade 2, when her and her family moved away.  Needless to say, we never spoke to each other again after that.  But now, with the power of social networking, we miraculously found each other again! After all these years, things haven't changed. We are still "the mysterious Z sisters"....(LOL)...and even though we are provinces apart, we are still as close as ever.

Five months ago, we both went through some major changes in our lives. I had decided to take on a new job that I considered to be "out of my element", while she decided to up and move away from her hometown to be "on her own".  While at the time we both didn't realize that we were going to be fish out of our own ponds, we both viewed these changes (whether minor or major) as positive moves to add to our list of life experiences, so to speak.

In the midst of these past 5 months, we would constantly and almost everyday communicate through email.  We soon quickly realized that even though we both made a step in the right direction, we found that we both didn't belong in our new positions in life.

So, almost simultaneously, things started to happen effortlessly. I managed to find another job opportunity in my realm of comfortable-ness and knowledge (and back downtown!), while she also was able to land her  former position at the job she was at before she had left to move! And as coincidental as all all is, we both had the very same "last day" on the job!

So, here we are, two girls...back in our ponds, and couldn't be happier and more at home! Granted that our short-lived experiences landed us good work acquaintences and relationships, we also were left with us being more self-aware of ourselves and our surroundings, albeit people, places and work environment.

All I can say is that no matter how far apart distance-wise we get, we somehow manage to go through life together - literally!
So here's to you L.A. - our friendship started long time ago, you are one of the oldest friends that I know, and we managed to find our way back to each other! No amount of distance can come between us, girl!

Here's to us!
